SEO Titles and Descriptions: Examples for Business Websites
Write accurate service-page titles and meta descriptions. Use clear scope, distinct wording and a simple review process without keyword stuffing or false claims.

SEO descriptions summarize what a page helps someone understand or do. Pair a page-specific meta description with a clear SEO title and a visible heading that makes the same promise. A service page explains the work; About and Contact pages answer different business questions.
Give each page a distinct promise

Choose the main task for the page. A repair page, a replacement page and a pricing explanation should not all have the same title. Write the topic first, then add a meaningful qualifier or concise brand name if it helps the reader recognize the result.
Corey Morris's SEJ guide places title tags within the wider page context. That is a useful check: the title, main heading and body should describe the same subject. A stronger title cannot repair a page that never answers the question it advertises.
For an illustrative roofing site, 'Roof Leak Assessment: What to Prepare' is a clearer title for a preparation guide than 'Best Roofing Services.' Do not add a city, emergency availability or certification unless those details are true and explained on the page.
Summarize the page instead of repeating keywords

Use the description to explain what the visitor will learn or be able to do. A preparation guide could mention the information to gather and how an assessment is arranged. A service page could describe scope and the appropriate inquiry action without inventing a fixed price.
Google recommends descriptive titles and useful page-specific descriptions, but it can generate a different title link or snippet. Treat your wording as an accurate input, not a guaranteed preview that will appear identically for every query and device.
Read titles from several pages together. If the only difference is a city name while the pages contain the same material, investigate the content plan. If the descriptions all say 'quality solutions for your needs,' replace the general language with the actual value of each destination.
Verify the published output and review carefully

Use the active SEO plugin's fields and check the live page after saving. Look for one appropriate description rather than competing descriptions from a theme and plugin. Check the canonical URL and social preview image while you are reviewing the page head.
Keep a record of the old wording, new wording, reason and change date. Compare performance only after allowing time for recrawling and enough comparable data. A change in click-through rate may also reflect query mix, position, seasonality or a search-layout change.
Ask a colleague to read the title without the page. Then show them the destination and ask whether the promise was fulfilled. This simple editorial test often catches exaggerated wording more quickly than chasing a color score in a plugin.
Practical checklist
- Each title names a distinct page purpose
- Descriptions summarize real content and avoid unsupported claims
- Live output is checked after saving

SEO title and meta description examples for service pages
An SEO title names the page and its main purpose. A meta description summarizes the useful answer or action available there. Write both for one customer decision, then check that the visible page delivers it.
The examples below are writing exercises for a hypothetical roofer. They are not RenForge service offers or claims about an existing contractor.
- Repair service: Title: “Roof Repair in Tampa: Inspection & Repair Options | Example Roofer.” Description: “Explore roof repair options in Tampa, see what an inspection covers and learn which details to send when requesting an assessment.” Use the city only when the roofer genuinely serves it.
- Preparation guide: Title: “What to Prepare for a Roof Inspection | Example Roofer.” Description: “Prepare your property details, leak history and questions before a roof inspection. Learn what to share and what the roofing team will assess.”
- Project story: Title: “Tile Roof Repair: Project Scope & Photos | Example Roofer.” Description: “Review the documented problem, repair scope and approved project photos. See which service to contact about a similar roofing issue.” Publish this version only when those records exist.
How long should a meta description be?
Google does not set a fixed character limit for a meta description. Search snippets can be shortened to fit the device and may use different page text. Put the main value early, remove repeated claims and check the preview without treating a character count as a ranking rule.
Will changing a description improve ranking?
A description can help someone judge whether to click. A rewrite alone does not establish a ranking improvement. Record the change and review the same page, query group, country and device after Google has had time to recrawl it.

SEO descriptions for About and Contact pages
An About page helps readers verify the business and its relevant experience. A Contact page explains how to start a conversation and what information helps. Their descriptions should reflect those different jobs instead of repeating the homepage sales message.
Adapt each example to the facts and content on the destination. “Business Name” is a writing label to replace; it is not an instruction to publish a new company or a claim that a team, office or service exists.
| Page purpose | SEO title and description example |
|---|---|
| About page | Title: About the Team and How We Work | Business Name Description: Meet the team, understand the services it delivers and see how projects are planned and reviewed. |
| Contact page | Title: Contact the Team About Your Project | Business Name Description: Share your project type, location and questions. See which details help the team review your request and explain the next step. |
| Service page | Title: Kitchen Remodeling: Scope and Planning | Business Name Description: Review the remodeling scope, preparation steps and approved project examples before requesting a discussion about your home. |
Keep the SEO title, description and H1 distinct
The SEO title names the result people may click. The meta description summarizes the page’s useful answer or action. The H1 is the main visible heading after arrival. They should describe the same purpose, but they do not need to repeat the same sentence.
For a wider content decision, start with the service page content brief. For the review schedule, use the content maintenance checklist. Google may choose another snippet, so the page body must support the promise too.
Why does Google show a different SEO description?
Google can build a snippet from the part of your page that best answers the search, even when you have saved a meta description. A different snippet is a reason to inspect the query and destination together. It does not, by itself, mean the SEO field failed to save.
For an About-page query, check that the page explains who the business is and how it works. For a Contact-page query, check the inquiry instructions. Then inspect the live description and the visible passage Google selected. Change an inaccurate promise or missing answer before repeatedly rewriting the same keyword.
Google’s snippet documentation explains how page content and meta descriptions are used. Keep a dated record of any edit so later reviews compare the same URL, query group and reporting filters.
